Well today starts the first round of the SEC Tournament and the Tennessee Volunteers will be taking on LSU later this afternoon. In their support, I thought I would post a few pictures. For those of you that don’t know, Bruce Pearl led the Tennessee Vols to a 74-65 upset over the number 2 ranked Kentucky Wildcats at Thompson-Boling Arena in Knoxville, TN last month. Not only was it a big win for the Vols, but it was nice for me personally because I don’t like head coach John Calipari.

Brian Williams blocks DeMarcus Cousins as Steven Pearl assist.
Melvin Goins goes in for a layup.

I just found out that one of my wedding pictures from 2009 placed in the Wedding Photojournalist Association fourth quarter contest. The WPJA contest is a tough competition among other wedding photojournalists from around the WORLD. It is packed with extremely talented photographers and I am honored to be included. My winning photo came from Ben and Angie’s wedding reception at The Foundry here in Knoxville. The moment I made this photograph, I loved it. The groomsmen’s stereotypical response to avoid the garter cracked me up.
It has been a month since I photographed Christine and Steve’s wedding at The Foundry here in Knoxville. The weekend of their wedding was an unforgettable one. People were coming in from out of town for the wedding and so was a snow that almost shut down Knoxville. Everyone involved in the wedding arrived safely, including the band (Familiar Faces) that drove in from Nashville. Christine, who had been planning this day for years, stayed very calm about everything, and in the end it all worked out.
Here are a few details from Steve and Christine’s wedding.
Also decorating the reception area was flowers by Lisa Foster Floral Design. Here is the arrangement that she had along the serving line.
Christine had a beautiful and elegant wedding cake made by Magpies, and on top that it was DELICIOUS.
This is what The Foundry looked like after the reception started and everyone was enjoying their meal. It really is an amazing place right in the middle of Knoxville.
I just loved these next two pictures. The first is of her bouquet also made by Lisa Foster.
This is a close-up of her dress she got from Etain Bridal Boutique outside of Atlanta. The designer was Matthew Christopher.
Now it is time for Christine and Steve’s photo story of their wedding weekend. Their story begins with a Friday evening dinner at the Copper Cellar because the rehearsal was canceled due to bad weather. As a Knoxville wedding photographer, I have definitely seen more wedding cakes than the average person. I recently had a bride on Facebook ask me about wedding cakes, so I decided to write a post about them. I went back through past weddings and put together over 75 wedding cake photos including groom’s cakes. Since that would be WAY to many to post on my blog, I made a special gallery for them on my Facebook page. If you are a former bride and I posted your cake, please feel free to email me and/or comment who made your cake along with any other details.

Earlier I showed you one of the headshots that I did for Ashley, Owner/Director of Ashley’s Dance Academy and WIVK DJ. As I said before, she always has something interesting going on in her life. Well her latest adventure includes being a contestant on CMT’s The Singing Bee! My wife got us hooked on the Singing Bee during her maternity leave and it is one of our favorites. For those that haven’t seen the show before, it is a karaoke-style singing competition where contestants have to sing the correct lyrics to random songs or be eliminated. That’s right, “You don’t have to sing it well; you just have to sing it right.” It sounds easy but reality is another thing. The show is being aired tonight on CMT at 9/8c. Check it out and cheer for her to win $10,000.
I just noticed that my friend Lisa at Lisa Foster Floral Design is offering something unique for Valentine’s Day. Today through Feburary 13, she is offering a drive-thru service.
For $30.00, you’ll drive away with a dozen wrapped roses (wrapped with a bow to be put in a vase later), a free gift certificate for bang-bang shrimp from Bonefish Grill, and a voucher for a free sandwich at Pimentos!
Guys you can’t get any easier than that! For more information check out Lisa’s blog.
If you happen to be reading this post a little to late for Valentine’s Day flowers, stop by and ask for a Doghouse Special and she will hook you up. Here is an arrangement that I picked up last year. Yes, even I get in the doghouse every once in a while.
While sharing, here are just a few pictures of a flush mount album that I made of Lisa’s wedding work.
Yesterday Melinda emailed checking on her wedding album because she was coming into town. Well, UPS must have been eavesdropping because it arrived today. Here are a few photos I took for a little teaser until this weekend.
