Easy dessert recipe

Since I was a little kid my mom always kept the house filled with homemade desserts. Well last week, when all of the snow hit, my wife was doing  a lot of baking around here. That made me think (scary thing right!) many of my readers are newlyweds, and they may not have a lot of their own recipes. So I decided to share one of my favorites.

Brown Bettes (Bettys)

1 – egg
1 – cup brown sugar
3/4 – stick butter melted
1 – teaspoon vanilla
1/2 – teaspoon baking soda
1 – cup flour
1 – cup chocolate chips
1 – cup pecans (optional)

Combine dry ingredients
Add liquids
Stir well

Add chocolate chips and nuts
Stir some more

Put in greased 8×8 pan
Bake at 350 degrees for 20-25 minutes.

If you like this idea about the recipes let me know in the comments. Who knows it could become a regular blog post!

  • Lori Bagley - Great idea! Have you ever gone to http://www.thepioneerwoman.com and seen her recipes and how she posts? I’ve seen lots of other cooking sites too but she is the best. May give you an idea or two anyway.

  • Steven - Thank Lori, I haven’t seen that but I’ll check it out. I have a few ideas to share. Which anything I cook will be easy. 🙂 After that I can add the recipes of my mom and creations of wife, hopefully it will last a while.
